Poor Clare Monastery

Within our parish, at 2505 Stone Hedge Drive, is the Poor Clare Monastery of Mary, Mother of the Church. The monastery, established in 1979, is the only community of cloistered nuns in the Diocese of Arlington. Founded by St. Francis of Assisi and St. Clare in the thirteenth century, the Poor Clares are a contemplative community, dedicated to continuous worship of God, penance for the sins of the world, and prayer for all people. Their special apostolate here is to be a spiritual "powerhouse" for our diocese. Committed to practice St. Francis' ideal of absolute poverty, the nuns are completely dependent on others for their support. The Sisters welcome visits to their chapel during daytime hours. They welcome also your requests for prayers for your particular intentions, which can be dropped off in the Chapel vestibule or phoned in to 703-768-4918.

Mass is celebrated daily at 7:00 a.m.
