Youth Ministry

All parish youth in grades 9 through 12, and those who have recently graduated, are invited to join the St. Louis Catholic Youth Organization parish youth group. The Youth Ministry strives for spiritual growth, Christian fellowship, and community service. Members meet Sunday evenings from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. They participate in service, spiritual, and social activities such as Work Camp, a back pack drive for low-income school children, Mount 2000 retreat, pro-life activities, white water rafting trips, exciting topic nights with skits and discussions, and Power Holy Hours, all while having a blast with other teens and being challenged to grow in their relationship with Jesus and His Church. Please check the Sunday Bulletin for upcoming activities.

Middle School Youth grades 7 and 8 are welcome to come and enjoy the activities for their Junior Youth Ministry Group. Activities include sporting events, trips and meeting great friends. Members meet every other Friday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Don't miss out on the chance to grow in your faith and develop true friendships.

Cub Scouting helps build boys of strong mind, body, heart and soul, and St. Louis Catholic Church Cub Scout Pack 680 has been serving our parish for over 30 years in this way. The activities are fun for the boys and at the same time teach them valuable skills and lessons. Trained leaders and the boys' parents provide guidance toward earning achievements for numerous age-appropriate activities in areas such as outdoor skills, citizenship and community service, valuing our faith and country, athletic and scholarly endeavors, and model-building. There are dens for Tiger Cubs (1st grade), Wolf Cubs (2nd grade), Bear Cubs (3rd grade), Webelos I (4th grade), and Webelos II (5th grade).

Troop 680, chartered by the Boy Scouts of America to St. Louis Church, has provided a quality Scouting program since the 1950s. Scouts in Troop 680 pursue both the ideals of the Church, e.g., the Ad Altare Dei religious emblem, and the "Aims of Scouting." The purpose of earning the Ad Altare Dei emblem is to equip the Scout to take his place in the world as a maturing Catholic and a maturing American; with a religious emblems counselor, the boy meets requirements in eight steps covering the sacraments of initiation and the sacraments of maturity.

The methods by which the aims of Scouting are achieved include: Ideals; Patrols; Outdoor Program; Advancement; Associations with Adults; Personal Growth; Scout Uniform; and Leadership Development. Troop 680 conducts a year-long program focusing on service and outdoor adventure. Service projects include Eagle projects, Scouting for Food, Memorial Day flag placement and ceremony, and special projects.

Outdoor adventure includes backpacking, camping, biking, hiking, swimming, canoeing, shooting and other outdoor skills, as well as a week-long summer camp. Any boy from 11 to 17 years of age with an interest in outdoor fun is welcome to join. The troop meets most Tuesday evenings at St. Louis School in the multipurpose room or at Walsh Hall. Parents of Scouts are strongly encouraged to assist with troop activities. For more information, please visit the Troop 680 web site at http://troop680.net or contact the Scoutmaster (Wade Harvey) by phone, 571-215-9101 or email,  WadeHarvey@gmail.com.
