Altar Servers Page

Dear Knights of the Altar,
Father Staples, along with all of the priests at St. Louis, sincerely appreciate the terrific job all of the Altar Boys did Lent, Holy Week and the entire Easter season. We received a number of compliments from our parishioners regarding your work. You should be very proud. Thanks to all.
Recruiting: It’s that time of you when we start actively looking for new young men to join our ranks. If you have a little brother, classmate or friend that will be entering the 4th grade next fall, or is at least 10 years of age, and has received first Holy Communion then they are excellent candidates! If you know of anyone who might be interested please have them contact Mr. England (703-960-5549 or DCEngland6@aol.com) for an application and additional information.
Promotions: The time for promotions is also drawing near. This year’s decisions will be particularly difficult for a number of reasons. First and most important, you are all doing a terrific job and this makes the selection process very difficult. Secondly, compared to previous years we haven’t lost many Altar Boys and the number of promotion opportunities will be smaller than last summer. Once we get our new recruits trained as apprentices we will have a better idea how many boys will be promoted. Announcements and training will be scheduled for later in the summer.
Summer Altar Boy Outing: In addition to the Diocese’s annual summer Altar Server picnic (watch the Herald for additional details) Mr. England and I are researching some options for a St. Louis Altar Boy outing. We are considering dates for late in summer to ensure as many boys as possible have returned to town and can participate. Watch this space, the bulletin, and Mr. England’s e-mails for more news.
The schedules are provided well in advance to allow for coordination and swaps… these become even more important during the summer months as families get a chance to take vacations. Please make every effort to identify absences well in advance and make arrangements for a swap. If you make a swap please notify Mr. England (703-960-5549 or DCEngland6@aol.com) to ensure you get credit.
E-mail Addresses
Just over 50% of the Altar Servers and their families now receive the schedules and other Altar Server news via e-mail… if you would like to be included on that list please send your e-mail address to Mr. England DCEngland6@aol.com
Keep up the great work! Your continued service and sacrifice is most appreciated.
In Christo Domino (in Christ the Lord),
Father de Rosa
